Influence Through Movement

Posted by B U

Every leader faces famine during the course of their leadership journey. The famine I’m talking about here could be emotional, intellectual, financial, relational, or spiritual.

As a leader, you will experience moments of famine in your own life, within your team, and in your organisation. Each of these moments of famine will affect you differently and they will require you to take different actions. When these moments of famine come, the one thing you must never do is to stop moving. I recently shared a post on social media about not letting the fear of stepping out or of taking a risk stop you from making a move.

Might you fall if you step out? Yes, there is a possibility of that happening. Is there a possibility that the action you plan to take might have risks? Yes again, but then, there’s always a risk with most actions we take on a daily basis. Should the possibility of falling and facing risks stop us from doing the things that need to be done? No! If we held back every time there was a possibility of something not going according to how we expect it to or according to how we planned, there wouldn’t be the advancements and developments we see and enjoy today.

My charge to you today as you begin a new workweek is to keep moving. After you’ve done all you know to do, keep moving.

Why am I going on about movement? Well, because movement is an essential part of life. Scientists have always listed it as one of the characteristics of living things. It is one of the signs we see that make us know there is life in something. A leader who isn’t moving loses his/her power to influence. Soon enough, such a leader will lose his/her followers. As movement is a sign of life for all living things, so also is it a sign of life for leaders. If you intend to keep influencing and making a positive difference in your environment, you have to keep moving.

Keep moving by making decisions that’ll help bring visions and goals to their physical reality. Move by seizing opportunities presented during a disruption. Keep moving by remaining flexible as change keeps happening. Maintain the flow of productivity by staying in motion. Whatever you do, don’t stop moving.

Remember this; your ability to move is essential to your survival and success. It’s the only way you can remain an influential leader that’s worth following.

Keep Moving!
